On Friday October 30, 2009 the Olympic Flame arrived at the Victoria International Airport, and was greeted by Prime Minister Steven Harper, Premier Gordon Campbell, among many other notable people. The flame made it's way to the Songhees where it was then transferred to a canoe. Three First Nations canoes paddled their way across the water into the Inner Harbour.  It was surreal as those of us in attendance at the Greater Victoria Harbour Authority watched the broadcast of the paddling of the canoes and looking out the window and the real thing happening before our eyes. Once the canoe made shore the flame was carried to the main stage that had been erected on the front lawn of the British Columbia legislature.

On Saturday October 31, 2009 the Olympic Flame relay made it's way among many other places to Fort Rodd Hill and Cowichan Bay. At Fort Rodd Hill Victoria A.M. Association Meet and Greet volunteers, Max, Joyce, Heather, Kathy and Louise were on hand to welcome all who arrived including the flame carriers. Later that day the flame made it's way to Cowichan Bay where Past President Suzan Lagrove who now works for the Maritime Museum, Premier Gordon Campbell among many other local residents welcomed the relay.

Below are some highlights captured by Suzan, Max and myself of the first two days of the journey.
The following video was filmed by member Don Chaput of Angel Communications and he has given his permission to post this on the Victoria AM website. Enjoy.
